Agra Fort, also known as “Laal Kila”, is located in Agra, India. It is listed as a world heritage site by UNESCO in 1983. The World Heritage Site declared by UNESCO Red Fort is situated in Agra, Uttar pradesh on the banks of Yamuna River. It is known as Red Fort because it is built of a kind of red sandstone. The Agra Fort is built alongside the Yamuna river and stretches almost 2.5 km. It consists of a wall built in red sandstone and several buildings inside. The wall has 2 gates, the Delhi Gate and the Amar Singh Gate. You can only enter the fort via the Amar Singh Gate. The Agra Fort known as diffrent name like “Lal –Qila”, “Fort Rouge” or “Qila-i-Akbari”. Agra Fort is entered today at the south end, through a low outer wall and gate built by Aurangzeb. Visitors then pass in succession through two of Akbar's gates, the Amar Singh gate and the Akbari gate, before finally gaining admittance to the fort proper. The original entrance to the fort was through the grander Delhi Gate in the west wall.
On visiting the Agra Fort, you will come across Diwan-i-Am or the Hall of Public Audience. Aurangzeb imprisoned Shah Jahan, his own father, in the fort for 8 years until he died in 1666 and was buried in the Taj Mahal. The barbicans around the two gates and on the riverside were built by Aurangzeb to strengthen its defences. This hall with numerous pillars is said to be erected by Shah Jahan in the year 1628. On heading little forward, you will see Royal Pavilions abounding in elegant mosques including Nagina Masjid and Mina Masjid, palaces like Macchi Bhavan, Khas Mahal, Shish Mahal and Shah Jahani Mahal and the Zenana Mina Bazaar. In south, the huge red-sandstone Jehangir’s Palace was probably built by Akbar for his son Jehangir. It blends Indian and Central Asian architectural styles, a reminder of the Mughals’ Afghani cultural roots.Akbar arrived in Agra in 1558. He ordered to renovate the fort with red sandstone. Some 4000 builders daily worked on it and it was completed in 8 years (1565-1573). There are diffrent area must see in The Agra Fort like,

By Air:
Agra airport (AGR) is a military airbase 12.5 km away from the city.
By Train:
